1. Choose Your Faction Wisely

Not all factions are created equal in the Realms of Chaos. For beginners, Kislev offers a balanced roster and straightforward mechanics. Experienced players might prefer Grand Cathay for its harmony system or Daemons of Chaos for versatility. Avoid Norsca and Beastmen on your first playthrough—they struggle with corruption and economy.

2. Manage Corruption Like a Pro

Corruption spreads rapidly and can tank your public order. Build corruption-reducing buildings in every province and station agents with the “Untainted” trait to cleanse regions. When invading chaos-aligned territories, bring priests or wizards to counter corruption. Remember: high corruption attracts rogue armies and rebellions.

3. Dominate the Survival Battles

Portal survival battles are key to earning Daemon Prince souls. Bring a balanced army: at least 4-6 ranged units for clearing trash, 2-3 monsters for breaking lines, and 1-2 heroes for support. Use the environment—choke points and defensive towers are your friends. Always capture resource points to summon reinforcements.

4. Prioritize the First Portal Rush

The first set of portals opens around turn 10-15. Send your main army to a faction-specific portal (e.g., Khorne for Kislev). The AI factions will also rush, so you need to be quick. If you secure a soul early, you deny it to opponents and gain a powerful trait.

5. Develop Your Home Provinces

Don't overexpand early. Focus on building up 3-4 core provinces with maxed-out growth and income buildings. Each province should have a garrison building to deter attacks. Use your secondary lords to defend while your main army hunts souls.

6. Exploit Faction Mechanics

Each race has unique tools. For Kislev, use the Ice Court to recruit superior Ice Witches. For Cathay, maintain Yin-Yang balance for buffs. For Daemons of Chaos, invest in the Glory system to unlock legendary lords. Ignoring these mechanics will leave you at a disadvantage.

7. Tech Up to Tier 4-5 Units ASAP

Early units fall off fast. Rush military research to unlock elite troops like Bear Cavalry (Kislev) or Crane Gunners (Cathay). These units can solo entire armies when properly supported. Aim to field at least one doomstack by turn 50.

8. Use Agents to Disrupt Rivals

Agents are your spies and saboteurs. Assassinate enemy heroes, wound lords, or block armies. Hinder rival legendary lords trying to gather souls—sabotaging their portal attempts can win you the race. Also, embed heroes in your army for passive buffs.

9. Win the Final Battle with Preparation

The final battle against Bel'akor is brutal. Bring anti-large units to counter his demons, healing magic, and a durable frontline. Save at least 2-3 winds of magic reserves for key spells like Comet of Casandora or Pendulum. Spread your forces to avoid AoE attacks.

10. Mind the Endgame Crisis

Around turn 100-120, a massive chaos invasion spawns. Prepare by upgrading garrisons, forming alliances, and consolidating your armies. If you have 3 souls by then, you can attempt the final battle early—but ensure your army is ready. Otherwise, defend until you can take the fight to the enemy.
